About Me

My Story

I was 26 years old, sitting in a doctor’s office for something as simple as pink eye—courtesy of my toddler. The doctor did his routine vitals check, looked at my eye and then sat down in front of me. He looked me dead in the eye and said, "Yeah, you have conjunctivitis, I can give you drops for that..." and then asked a question that stopped my world:
“Did you know you have Stage II Hypertension?”

(There's only 2 stages before hypertensive crisis!)

At 26, hearing that my heart health was already in danger hit me hard. I weighed 265 pounds. I would get exhausted walking up stairs, struggled to keep up with my child, avoided being outside, and ate poorly every single day. In that moment, I realized I was taking years off my life simply by not prioritizing my physical health. As a father and husband, the thought of not being around, or not having quality years, was a wake‑up call I couldn’t ignore.

Right then, I told myself, “No more.”

On January 1st, 2013, I signed up for a gym membership. I started lifting weights and walking every day, even though the first five minutes brought a stabbing pain in my ribs. I fought it every time, pushing out the onset of that pain everyday. I tracked every calorie and every macro. When I wasn’t at the gym, I was researching. When I returned to the gym, I applied everything I learned. I trained six days a week and rested one. The work began to pay off. For the first few months, I was losing 4–5 pounds a week.

I kept showing up, thinking about my kids, my family, and the life I wanted to live.
By the end of that first year, I had lost over 100 pounds and gained more than 20 pounds of muscle.

In January 2014, I shared my story on social media. I didn’t expect much, but something incredible happened, people were inspired. They reached out asking what I did, how I did it, and why. Sharing my journey helped others find their own “why,” their own spark, their own belief that change was possible.

Now, that spark has become my mission.
I’m here to help people find direction, discover their why, and build the confidence to say,
“I can” and “I will.”

This is more than fitness for me. It’s about giving others the chance to rewrite their story the same way I rewrote mine.

Why I do what I do

My journey into coaching didn’t start with certifications or gym experience—it started with struggle. Losing over 100 pounds gave me my health back, but it also opened the door to something I had dreamed about for years: becoming a police officer. Serving my community and making a meaningful impact on people’s lives was everything I hoped it would be.

But the job changed me too. Mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Over nine years, I faced things most people never have to see. I took on people’s pain, their fear, their worst moments. And physically, my body paid the price. Most significantly, in 2018, I was t-boned by a drunk driver on patrol, injuring my back and neck. Over the years... I broke my hand. I blew out my knee. I tore my rotator cuff. I sprained just about everything else. Injury after injury, setback after setback, I felt myself drifting further from the passion that had once saved my life—fitness.

It was defeating to feel like my body no longer worked the way it used to. I know what it’s like to feel lost, stuck, or unsure where to begin again. I know what it’s like to want change but not recognize the person in the mirror. I know what it’s like to feel broken, physically and mentally, and wonder if you’ll ever get back to where you once were.

After nine years in law enforcement, and thinking about my five kids and my beautiful wife, I knew it was time to step away. But the part of me that loved helping people never left. That part only grew stronger.

Coaching became the bridge between my past and my purpose.

I do this because I’ve lived every side of the journey—weight loss, injury, rebuilding, doubt, and starting over. I have a passion for people who feel defeated, who think they can’t work out anymore, who believe their injuries define them. I have a passion for people who want to lose weight but don’t know where to start. I have a passion for anyone who feels stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of their next step.

My heart is with every person who walks through those struggles, because I’ve walked them too.

Harris Iron & Insight exists to help people find direction, rediscover their strength, and believe in their ability to say, “I can” and “I will.” My mission is to make a meaningful impact—one person, one story, one transformation at a time.
